Foundation Degree

ALS's Foundation Degree (Arts) Applied Professional Practice (FdA), designed in association with Cardiff Metropolitan University, aims to support the development of management and leadership skills in a way that will suit both employers and delegates’ needs whilst being accredited by a leading university.

ALS has developed the Foundation Degree (Arts) Applied Professional Practice (FdA) to allow your Managers to study in a way which suits your business needs whilst being accredited by the leading Cardiff Metropolitan University.

What’s involved in a Foundation Degree?

The degree aims to give a blend of learning opportunities together with the experience of studying within the Cardiff Metropolitan University; attending lectures and workshops, using a range of resources and research capabilities, aimed at specific business challenges and practices.

  • How a Foundation Degree works for companies

    • The degree is modular, with mandatory and optional modules, which means delegates can choose to study from a pick and mix of topics depending on their personal preference and your business needs
    • The mandatory module in year one is based on their prior learning and experience and is used to assess any prior knowledge so delegates may apply for accreditation for some of the optional modules (up to a maximum of 60 credits) reducing the amount of time required for day release
    • Delegates can exit the programme with the FdA or higher education credits upon achievement depending on the option selected
    • Modules are worth between 20-50 credits: to achieve the FdA 240 credits are required
    • The degree is run over two academic years:- Year one Level 4 modules worth 120 credits- Year two Level 5 modules worth 120 credits
